International seminar

The University of Hull Faculty of Health Sciences had the pleasure of hosting a free research seminar presented by Dr Sue Bond – a lecturer at the University of Johannesburg.
Her phenomenological study draws upon ‘possible selves’ theory and concepts of resilience for children as they transition from ‘looked after’ care environments. Sue’s presentation was very well attended by lecturers, health and social work experts. She identified some stark differences in health and social care provision across the globe.

The session raised some exceptionally interesting discussions.

The University of Hull Faculty of Health Sciences welcomes international guest lecturers.
These collaborations help to ensure our curricula remain globally relevant and enhance our student’s international experiences.

Another PhD success: Dr Hannah Degge

Faculty of Health Sciences PhD student Hannah Degge had her Viva on the 12 July and has been awarded her PhD subject to minor amendments. Her co-supervisors were Professor Mark Hayter and Dr Mary Laurenson and her thesis was titled:

Experiences of women with obstetric fistula in Nigeria: a narrative enquiry

Congratulations Dr Degge!’

Blogger takes a break

The People's Blogger is taking a break in the Southern Hemisphere for three weeks; keep sending information for the blog and we will have a bumper Summer Edition (who remembers The Beano?) when I return. Meantime, I'll be working on my new image (see right).
