Local MP refers to work at Hull in Parliament

Emma Hardy MP
Recently (week commencing 22 July 2019) Emma Hardy Labour MP for Kingston-upon-Hull West and Hessle spoke in parliament about the high impact of endometriosis on 1 in 10 women in the UK who wait on average 7.5 years for a diagnosis. Emma highlighted the work Biomarkers Cluster PhD student, Ms Leah Cooksey, is undertaking in the Department of Biomedical Sciences with the help of consultant gynaecologist Mr Kevin Phillips, HUTH and under the supervision of Dr Barbara Guinn and Dr Isabel Pires. Emma highlighted the need for £10,000 of funding to help researchers at the University of Hull to identify biomarkers to enable the early diagnosis of endemetriosis which we hope will positively impact on patients both in facilitating earlier care and the diminishment of debilitating symptoms including chronic pain, depression and infertility.
