The project is entitled “Enabling Self Care through technology: Evaluation of the MSD Telehealth service”. As an enterprise activity it has been designed with research outputs in mind so that findings from telehealth service delivery can meet the rigour of peer reviewed publication. It will seek to address the following areas;
Work Package 2 –
Clinical effectiveness and outcomes: This will be achieved through a
case-matched analysis against a number of registry databases including
Hull-Lifelab (Academic Cardiology, HYMS) to enable comparison of the service
patients against a control group; without the need for a randomised control
trial. Also exploring whether telehealth increases self-care or reduces carer burden.
Work Package 3 –
Economic benefits: Does the service translate into cost savings and/or increased
case load management?
Work Package 4 – User
and carer experience: Understanding the user’s experience of telehealth and
of those who care for the patient.
Work Package 5 –
Provider and practitioner experience: Understanding the telehealth nurse and
GP experience of using telehealth.
