Jane Wray, Senior Research Fellow in the FHSC was a member of the RCN Equality and Diversity Committee who have recently launched the RCN guidance Fair care for trans people: An RCN guide for nursing and health care professionals. Initially created in a response to an RCN Congress resolution. The RCN conducted a survey of more than 1,200 nursing staff and found that only 13% felt prepared to meet the needs of Trans patients they had cared for. The guidance was developed to help healthcare staff understand and respond to the needs of clients and patients who identify as transgender.
