Jennifer Loke, front, with HEA
International Scholars

Dr Jennifer Loke, the 2012 HEA international Scholar attended a two day induction event for newly appointed Scholars on 23-24th 2013, participating as an invited guest in the programme. The event was organised by the HEA Internationalisation team at their headquarters in York. Along with other existing scholars, she welcomed the new scholars and made contributions to further develop the International Scholarship Scheme. The first day ended on a high note with a celebration dinner at the Cedar Court Grand Hotel, where the group was addressed by Prof Craig Mahoney, the Chief Executive of the HEA. He announced that the scheme would be in future, be known as the Professor Sir Ron Cooke International Scholarship Awards, in honour of the former Vice Chancellor of York University, Sir Ron Cooke who was also present at the dinner. The second day included very useful discussions with existing scholars to cross-fertilise ideas for potential future interdisciplinary research work and collaboration.

Jennifer says: “The International Scholarship has given me a very unique experience to academic work, and I would encourage colleagues to apply for the scheme”.
