Recently Uncovered Photograph Collection Reveals Extraordinary Insight into pre-NHS Healthcare

As many of you will already know, I am avid user of Twitter and, like a magpie, I collect shiny and interesting looking tweets. I do this by emailing them to myself and archiving them for future reference - perhaps there is a more adept way to archive tweets, but I have yet to discover it!

Consequently, I often have to 'prune' my collection of email tweets, and scrolling through them recently, I came across a tweet containing the following link:

Recently Uncovered Photograph Collection Reveals Extraordinary Insight into pre-NHS Healthcare

If you have a chance, please do visit the link, especially given that the 70th anniversary of the NHS is likely in your sights at the moment. You will find an amazing collection of photographs as well as video interviews with ex-nurses…..hugely engaging and insightful.

I hope you’ll agree that this extraordinary archive is a
must-see.

Evidence Briefing: 'Behaviour that challenges' in dementia

Esme Moniz-Cook co-authored (with Ian James):
Evidence Briefing: 'Behaviour that challenges' in dementia

This briefing outlines the importance of having a psychological understanding of the complex causes of ‘behaviour that challenges’ (BtC) and related interventions to meet the needs of the person living with dementia. It summarises research and clinical evidence in this arena, to aid commissioners and other stakeholders to shape the service landscape. It is not intended to be read as a set of recommendations for practitioners.

Probiotics for mental health

Professor Colin Martin
has co-authored:

Probiotics in Mental Health

From the website:
The concept that the gut and brain are intricately linked is widely accepted not just within the lay community but increasingly within scientific and therapeutic circles as well. Terms such as "heartache" and "gut wrenching" are more than mere metaphor, they represent key fundamental aspects of human experience which all individuals will invariably endure from time to time. The relationship between the gut and brain is complex but fundamental to health and wellbeing. Increasing and compelling evidence supports the existence of a relationship between the health and status of the gut and the manifestation of significant psychopathology.
